New Developments!

Monday morning Ben crawled for the very first time. I mean actual moving arms and legs to get somewhere!! He only did it a few times but he's getting better and better at it! However, if he wants to get somewhere fast, he lunges AKA worms AKA moves like a walrus! He is growing up so fast!!
He is starting to pull himself up on things now. First thing was a suitcase, then a big bag of paper towel rolls. He fell off the paper towels and bonked his head but he was just a little scared and some cuddle time with momma made it all better!! His new favorite thing to do lately is try to climb into his bouncer. Here is a picture!Bne has also started to eat Cheerios. We are moving on to goldfish crackers soon. He love, love, love, love, loves Cheerios. We had some multi-grain cheerios and he started eating the and now he's addicted. lol. Last night our friends brought over some peanut butter and they dipped some cheerios in some peanut butter and Ben thought that was the greatest thing he's ever eaten!! He's such an adorable little thing!
Momma had to take him to class on Wednesday! He was such a cutie pie and melted everyone's heart! They all said that he much look like his daddy because he certainly doesn't look a thing like me! I've been saying that for a long time, but i think atleast he was my nose.. and probably my small mouth! He is teething again, cutting one of his upper teeth!

Ben is such a blessing! He is nursing every 6 hours.. which is nice for momma! He is pretty much sleeping through the night, on wakes once and we put him back to sleep. FOr some reason, daddy is the ONLY one who can rock Ben to sleep them put him down and actually have him stay asleep! If we leave him with anyone, they all say that he falls asleep but wakes wide up when they try and put him down! How weird is that!?!?!? Even momma can't do it! SHe has to put him down with Keith the Koala and turn on his music and he puts himself to sleep! he is such a good little boy when it comes to nap time (most of the time!) Here is Ben posing for the camera!

'Back to sleep' or 'tummy time'

Ah, the heated argument between putting your baby to sleep on his back or his tummy. We, of course, put him to sleep on his back when he was a newborn because he couldn't hold up his head. Although he did start holding up his head up at barely two weeks!!! However, now that he is great at rolling over, and does it all the time, its hard to keep him on his back! I'll come into his room to check on him and he's rolled over and is now on his tummy, with his hand strategically places near his mouth in case he needs a finger to suck on. I don't feel like this is a problem, really. He sleeps well, he is very healthy and he LOVES to sleep on his tummy. So, what my boy loves, he gets!!
Lately I've been reading sites about when your baby should be sleeping through the night and I realized that Ben could easily sleep through the night if I didn't get up to feed him every 4 hours. We have been trying to help get him into a routine that encourages him to sleep all night. we decided that Daddy would go in at night when he cries because if mommy goes in, all he wants to do is eat. The first night, he woke up twice and we back to sleep with a little help from Daddy. The second night he woke up once, and last night he didn't wake up at all. Usually he will wake up around the same time that daddy does, around 715-730 ish. So, I will get up and feed him then we will both go back to sleep for about another hour. I absolutely loves this because I'm getting alot of sleep. Oh, and all three mornings, Ben takes a nap around 930 as well and sleeps for another couple hours.
I'm so grateful that Toby is willing to get up at night with Ben and let me get some much needed sleep. It's been awhile since I've gotten a good night's sleep. WE LOVE YOU TOBY/DADDY!!!

Fun with Food

Ben is a food eating machine. He will eat anything and everything I give him. So, i'm going to admit that i'm not the most cautious person when i come s to giving him enough time between starting new foods. I'm actually terrible at this!! I don't wait the 3-4 days to see if he reacts to it. A couple time I even gave him 2 new food in one day. (most likely because that was all i had and he was so hungry after a feeding). But, so far, no bad reactions. He's had so much new foods that I can't even keep track anymore!! But he's is all into 2nd foods and about to move onto 3rd foods!! He absolutely loves food!! He's eating those little fruit flavored puffs and would eat the whole container if I let him! He is like a little bird sometimes, just opens his mouth wide and "caws" for more. (that is a bird sound if you're wondering). He has been getting alot of baby food, probably too much in my opinion so I've decided to start him on a eating routine, just to make sure that he's getting just the right amount of food, and i'm not overfeeding him, because let me tell you, that kid will eat til he pukes!! (Which he did last Thursday!!)

Breakfast: 2nd Foods fruit (moving to 3rd foods soon)
Early afternoon: 2nd foods veggie
Dinner: 2nd foods dinner

Hopefully this will help regulate him. Of course he get teething biscuits and puffs regularly, so he loves that too. And he get one bottle of apple juice a day. I mix 8 oz. or water with 2 oz. of Simply Apple juice. So he's getting mostly water even if he doesn't know it!! hehehe
oh, btw, i was reading an article about how you can't really over feed your little baby becaue they know when they are full and will mostly likely turn away when they are. Well, my kid is definately not like that! He will eat and eat and eat and eat for hours if I let him. We are still nursing, which I am grateful for!, but only nursesw about 10 minutes total. Then i could feed him a 4 oz. dinner with a 3.5 oz veggie and when they are done, he's still crying for more. I'll give him some juice and some puffs but about 5 minutes later he'll start to spit up. Don't you think its a little much to feed him? I know he's not hungry because if I distract him on purpose after a little while he's ok again. Then he won't eat for another 4 - 41/2 hours. Man, my little man is an eater!! hahaha, gotta love this baby! he's the best!

Sittin' Pretty.... Handsome, that is!

So, now that you know that Ben sits up in a highchair and that it sparked his confidence that he can actually sit up on his own, I thought i'd post a video of him doing just that.

He might fall at the end but hey, who doesn't some times? LOL Anyways, hope you enjoy seeing how far and fast Ben is learning things! Oh, and I hope you like the accidental background soundtrack! Ben is better behaved when there is music on and he likes to watch the CD spin in the CD player. Daddy says that Daft Punk and Carbon Leaf are his favorites! This is carbon leaf in the background!
